Solute drag modeling for ferrite growth kinetics during precipitation experiments

چکیده

The growth kinetics of ferrite during intercritical annealing steel has been investigated using in situ high energy X-ray diffraction with a specially designed furnace allowing highly quantitative measurements phase volume fractions. Kinetics have obtained at 730?C, 750?C and 775?C different ternary Fe-C-X (where X : Mn, Ni, Mo Cr) alloys quaternary Fe-C-1Mn-1Cr (wt.%) alloy. results were compared the predictions classical Local Equilibrium Para-Equilibrium models as well an improved version three-jump solute drag model, where interactions between elements moving interface are described comprehensively. Good agreement was measured model for systems only one fitting parameter, namely Fe-X interaction parameter interface. found here qualitatively match those reported literature all solutes except which displayed attractive For Fe-C-Mn-Cr system, succeeded predicting same values used Fe-C-Mn Fe-C-Cr systems.

Evidence for Solute Drag during Recrystallization of Aluminum Alloys

Evidence of both solute drag as well as differences in migration mechanisms of certain boundary types has been found for an Al-Zr alloy. In-situ Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) annealing experiments coupled with Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) showed a stark contrast between Zr segregation at small and large scales. Specifically, Zr was found to segregate to, as well as ...

Phase-field modeling of two-dimensional solute precipitation∕dissolution: solid fingers and diffusion-limited precipitation.

Two-dimensional dendritic growth due to solute precipitation was simulated using a phase-field model reported earlier [Z. Xu and P. Meakin, J. Chem. Phys. 129, 014705 (2008)]. It was shown that diffusion-limited precipitation due to the chemical reaction at the solid-liquid interface has similarities with diffusion-limited aggregation (DLA). The diffusion-limited precipitation is attained by se...

Microscopic treatment of solute trapping and drag.

The long wavelength limit of a recent microscopic phase-field crystal (PFC) theory of a binary alloy mixture is used to derive an analytical approximation for the segregation coefficient as a function of the interface velocity, and relate it to the two-point correlation function of the liquid and the thermodynamic properties of solid and liquid phases. Our results offer the first analytical der...

Role of solute drag in intestinal transport

This study presents experiments related to the role of solvent drag and solute drag in the transmembrane movement of nonelectrolytes in a perfused rat intestine preparation. Conditions were chosen to simulate the effects of luminal hyperosmolarity on the permeability of tracer solutes. Data are presented on net water flux, transepithelial potentials, and lumen-to-blood and blood-to-lumen tracer...
